Cognitive psychology is the scientific study of the mind. Specifically, human memory, learning, attention, language, and decision-making behaviors are all encompassed in this discipline. Cognitive science is an interdisciplinary approach that brings together professionals from multiple areas of linguistics, computer science, engineering psychology, and neuroscience. “Cognitive psychology assumes that mental processes exist, that they can be studied scientifically, and that people are active information processors” (Ashcraft & Radvansky, 2013).

This course highlights the key points of cognitive psychology and is meant to serve as a primer.
